Amritsar (The Tribune India): Lok Sabha member Gurjeet Singh Aujla has said that a team of experts from the UN would arrive in Amritsar on June 26 to assess the level of air pollution so that a remedial programme could be chalked out to curb it.
Aujla said the holy city had been selected as one of the three cities in the country for a UN programme to check air pollution. Aujla claimed that he, during an international convention in Geneva organised by the World Health Organisation, had highlighted the case of the holy city after which the city was selected for the UN programme.
He said that the UN programme would help in reducing the air pollution level in the city which is the need of the hour. He said the project under United Nations Development Programme would get help from the state government, the Punjab Pollution Control Board, the district administration and environmentalists.
