Make clean air a reality for all children, everywhere.
Having grown up in the agricultural heartland of Punjab, I had never been aware of how blessed we were with good air-quality. Half a century later that same region is covered with a soup of smog, ringed by factories and now facing a ramping up of coal plants.
As the rates of asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease climb 10% a year globally the key factor is the deteriorating air-quality due to a rapid industrialization powered by fossil fuels, particularly coal. The world is urbanizing at the same time, cities by 2030 will have 60% of the global population, all demanding electricity, transport, a modern lifestyle. We must generate that power through green energy.
For all our children and future generations we need clean, breathable air.
